Corralejo sits at the northern tip of Fuerteventura, the second-largest of the Canary Islands and the one closest to the African coast. The beaches around Corralejo, particularly Flag Beach to the south, draw serious water-sports enthusiasts from across the continent, and the conditions are reliable enough to support a year-round community of instructors and schools. For those who prefer calmer water, the sheltered coves closer to the town centre offer gentler swimming, and the sea temperature rarely drops low enough to discourage a dip even in January.
