Corralejo sits at the northern tip of Fuerteventura, the second-largest of the Canary Islands and the one closest to the African coast. On a clear day, the outline of Lanzarote is visible across the narrow strait to the north, and the Saharan origins of the island's landscape are unmistakable in the pale, wind-sculpted dunes that stretch south of the town.
