查龙分区 指南
Tambon Chalong sits at the southern end of Phuket island, a sub-district that most visitors pass through on their way to somewhere else without realising they have already arrived somewhere worth pausing. The bay that bears its name curves gently into the Andaman Sea, and the hills that rise behind the waterfront are thick with rubber trees and jungle canopy. This is not the Phuket of beach clubs and neon-lit streets. Chalong operates at a different register, one shaped by working fishing piers, Buddhist devotion, and the kind of outdoor terrain that draws people who want to do something rather than simply recline.
Wat Chalong, the largest and most visited Buddhist temple in Phuket, anchors the sub-district both spiritually and geographically. The complex of gilded chedis and ornate prayer halls has been a site of pilgrimage for Thai Buddhists for well over a century, and it remains a functioning place of worship rather than a preserved relic. A few kilometres inland and uphill, the Great Buddha of Phuket, a 45-metre white marble image visible from much of the southern island, draws its own steady stream of visitors. Several of the experiences available here combine both sites in a single outing, sometimes pairing the cultural circuit with an ATV ride through the surrounding countryside, which gives a reasonable sense of how Chalong balances reverence with recreation.
