About the venue

About this venue

Tokyo Skytree is Japan's tallest structure and one of the tallest towers in the world, rising above the Sumida district on the eastern side of the city. Completed in 2012 and designed by the Nikken Sekkei architectural firm, the tower draws on traditional Japanese aesthetics, with its silhouette referencing the ancient shirasagi, or white heron, and its lower shaft shaped by a classical three-sided geometry known as sori. The tower serves as a broadcasting and communications mast for the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, replacing Tokyo Tower in that role.

Visitors can ascend to the Tembo Deck at 350 metres for panoramic views across the city, and continue to the Tembo Galleria, a spiralling glass corridor at 450 metres that offers some of the highest publicly accessible views in Asia. Current experiences include morning entry to the Tembo Deck with a soft drink and snack, evening entry paired with an alcoholic drink, and a combined ticket with the Sumida Aquarium located at the tower's base.
