The Story

Set against the sweltering backdrop of Franco-era Spain, Carmen tells the tale of a fiercely independent woman who bewilders and bewitches those around her. Carmen, spirited and defiant, draws the naive soldier Don José into a world of obsession and reckless choices. As Don José’s jealousy grows and crime follows, Carmen’s attention turns to the charismatic bullfighter Escamillo—leading to a fateful and dramatic confrontation.
