Your ticket combines the innovative Hungerburgbahn funicular with entry to Europe's highest zoo, perched 750 metres above sea level just outside Innsbruck. This alpine zoo houses nearly 2,000 animals representing about 150 species, all native to mountain regions. The Hungerburgbahn provides a scenic route from Congress station directly to the zoo entrance, offering panoramic views of Innsbruck and the surrounding peaks during the ascent.

The four-hectare Alpenzoo focuses exclusively on alpine fauna, with enclosures designed to replicate natural mountain habitats. You'll encounter marmots, lynx, bears, wolves, and golden eagles alongside many other species adapted to alpine conditions. The zoo's conservation programmes work to protect and breed endangered regional wildlife, making your visit both educational and meaningful for alpine conservation efforts.

Good to Know

Family facilities are available throughout the grounds, and stroller access is provided. However, wheelchair access is not available due to the mountainous terrain. Pets, including dogs, are not permitted inside the zoo for animal safety. Food and drinks can be purchased on-site but are not included with your ticket.
