萨格勒布 指南
Zagreb rewards visitors who arrive expecting a capital city and find instead something more layered: a Central European metropolis that spent centuries under Habsburg administration, absorbed the architectural ambitions of the nineteenth century, and emerged from the twentieth with a distinct civic confidence. The upper town, Gornji Grad, sits on a ridge above the modern centre and contains the medieval core of the city, including the Cathedral of the Assumption with its neo-Gothic spires and the colourful tiled roof of St Mark's Church, whose geometric pattern in the national colours has become one of the most reproduced images in Croatian tourism. Below it, Donji Grad unfolds in a grid of Austro-Hungarian boulevards, parks arranged in the so-called Green Horseshoe, and grand institutional buildings that speak to Zagreb's long role as a regional administrative and cultural centre.
The city has a pronounced café culture, concentrated along Tkalčićeva Street and around Dolac, the open-air market that has supplied the city's kitchens since the 1930s. Food matters here in a way that reflects the city's position at a crossroads: the cuisine draws on Alpine, Pannonian, and Mediterranean traditions simultaneously, producing a table that is neither purely Balkan nor straightforwardly Central European. A culinary tour with food and wine tasting is one of the more instructive ways to move through this, pairing local cheeses, cured meats, and regional wines with the neighbourhoods that produce and sell them, and giving a visitor a working map of the city's eating geography before they begin exploring independently.
