金比 指南
Gold was the making of Gympie. When James Nash struck it in 1867, the find is widely credited with saving the young colony of Queensland from bankruptcy, and the town that grew around those diggings has never quite let the story go. Situated in the Mary Valley about 160 kilometres north of Brisbane, Gympie sits at the point where the coastal ranges begin to soften into the broad river country of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, a landscape of green ridges, timber country, and slow-moving water that feels genuinely removed from the pace of the state's southern corridor.
The town itself carries its history lightly but legibly. The main street retains a good deal of its nineteenth-century commercial architecture, and the Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum holds one of the more substantial regional collections in Queensland, drawing on the material culture of the goldfields era as well as the timber and dairy industries that sustained the district once the rushes subsided. For a visitor arriving without fixed expectations, Gympie rewards a slower kind of attention than the purpose-built tourist towns further east.
