Arrival and Preparation

Your experience begins upon arrival at the skydive station where you are introduced to your tandem skydiving master, a seasoned professional there to ensure your safety and enjoyment. After a quick yet comprehensive briefing on what to expect, you are outfitted in a jumpsuit, harness, goggles, and frap hat. Friendly staff are available to answer questions throughout the gear-up process.

Scenic Ascent

Once ready, you’ll board a specially equipped plane that lifts off from a picturesque sheep farm at the base of the Remarkables mountain range. During the gradual ascent to altitude, gaze out at the stunning Wakatipu Basin, the turquoise shimmer of Lake Wakatipu, and the dramatic silhouette of the Southern Alps. These preview views give just a taste of the spectacle to come.

The Jump

When the plane reaches up to 15,000 feet, it’s time for the main event. Safely attached to your tandem master, you move toward the open door, heart pounding with excitement. Without hesitation, you both leap together into the fresh, crisp mountain air. For up to sixty seconds, you will experience a pure freefall, racing through the sky at high speed with uninterrupted panoramic views.

Parachute Glide and Landing

When the moment is right, your instructor opens the parachute. The rush of freefall is replaced by a peaceful descent, floating for about 4-5 minutes above Queenstown’s surreal scenery. Enjoy a bird’s-eye perspective of patchwork fields, winding rivers, and rugged peaks as you glide gently toward the drop zone. Your tandem master expertly guides you back to solid ground for a smooth landing on the grassy fields.
