The Ballenberg Open-Air Museum occupies a vast sweep of hillside just above the village, and it is the reason most visitors find themselves here at all. Spread across more than 100 hectares, Ballenberg gathers historic rural buildings relocated from across Switzerland, farmhouses, granaries, mills and workshops, each reconstructed and furnished to reflect the regional traditions of the canton it came from. The lake itself sets the tone for the whole area.
