Roman Catacombs Guided Tour with Transfers
Discover Rome's underground secrets on this comprehensive guided tour that takes you beneath the ancient city to explore its legendary catacombs. With round-trip transfers included, you'll travel along the historic Appian Way to visit either the Catacombs of St. Callixtus or Domitilla Catacombs, depending on availability.
Your licensed local guide will lead you through miles of underground tunnels lined with early Christian graves, papal tombs, and remarkably preserved frescoes. Learn how these sacred burial chambers served as secret places of worship during times of persecution, while admiring ancient inscriptions and symbolic carvings that tell the story of third-century Christian life in Rome.
The small group experience (maximum 25 guests) ensures easy movement through the narrow passages and allows for more personalised attention from your guide. Tours are available in English, French, Spanish, German, or Italian to suit your preference.

Good to Know
The tour begins at a central Rome meeting point where you'll board your coach for the journey to the Appian Way. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time. The catacombs maintain a naturally cool temperature year-round, so bring a light jacket regardless of the season outside.
Wear comfortable walking shoes as you'll encounter uneven surfaces and stairs throughout the underground passages. Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered, as this is required at all religious sites. Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the catacombs.
This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or visitors with reduced mobility due to the stairs and uneven ground. St. Callixtus Catacombs are closed on Wednesdays, so tours on that day visit Domitilla Catacombs instead.
While exploring Rome's underground history, you might also want to discover the city's above-ground treasures. Consider booking a Colosseum skip-the-line tour to see where ancient Romans gathered for entertainment, or explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel to complete your journey through Rome's religious heritage.
