Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party returns to the stage in an Encores! production at New York City Center, featuring Adrienne Warren and directed by Lili-Anne Brown. Based on Joseph Moncure March's 1928 narrative poem, this is one of the most musically ambitious scores in the modern Broadway canon.

The Story

In a Manhattan apartment in the late 1920s, vaudeville dancer Queenie and her volatile lover Burrs throw a wild party fueled by bathtub gin, jazz, and reckless abandon. As the night spirals deeper into excess, jealousy and violence simmer beneath the revelry. By morning, the consequences of one intoxicating evening will change everything. LaChiusa's score draws on jazz, blues, vaudeville, and Tin Pan Alley to create a musical world that captures Prohibition-era New York.

Cast and Creative Team

Directed by Lili-Anne Brown, the cast features Jasmine Amy Rogers as Queenie, Adrienne Warren as Kate, and Tonya Pinkins as Dolores Montoya. The original 2000 Broadway production earned 7 Tony nominations including Best Musical.
