Few places in Turkey demand as much of the eye as Urgup. Set in the Nevsehir province of Cappadocia, the town sits among a landscape that looks less like something shaped by geology and more like something imagined: tall cones of volcanic tufa, cave dwellings cut directly into cliff faces, and valleys whose colours shift from ochre to rose depending on the hour.
