Sea Witch World Premiere Concert at Theatre Royal Drury Lane
Before she took the mermaid's voice, she gave up her own heart. Sea Witch rises at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Sunday 1 March 2026 for two special world premiere concert performances. This dark, spellbinding new musical is a prequel inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, reimagining the origins of one of the ocean's most iconic villains. Based on Sarah Henning's fantasy novel and adapted with permission from HarperCollins Publishers, Sea Witch is a story of identity, sacrifice and self-discovery set in a world where magic is outlawed.
What Is Sea Witch About?
In a coastal kingdom where witchcraft is punishable by death, young Evie hides her magical abilities to survive. When a mysterious mermaid named Annemette surfaces with only three days to win a prince's heart, Evie's world is turned upside down. As love, vengeance and fate collide, Evie is forced to confront the darkness within herself and make choices that will define her forever. Sea Witch traces the journey from hidden outcast to the fearsome figure we know from the fairy tale, told through a score that blends cinematic pop, dark soul and soaring musical theatre songwriting.
Sea Witch London Cast
The all-star company of over 30 performers is led by Olivier Award nominee Natalie Paris, known for originating a role in SIX, as Evie. RuPaul's Drag Race judge and broadcaster Michelle Visage plays Tante Hansa, while West End legend Mazz Murray, celebrated for her long run in Mamma Mia!, takes the role of Queen Charlotte. They are joined by Strictly Come Dancing winner and The Wanted member Jay McGuiness as Iker, Olivier Award nominee Amy Di Bartolomeo, fresh from The Devil Wears Prada, as Annemette, Moulin Rouge! leading lady Natalie Kassanga as Malvina, and Djavan Van De Fliert (Frozen, Les Misérables) as Nik.
Sea Witch Creative Team and Music
Sea Witch is created and conceived by Kristopher Russell (director) and Michael David Glover (book). The original music and lyrics are by Segun Fawole, with music production by Jeff Nang and choreography by Dean Lee, whose credits include working with Janet Jackson. This is a brand-new creative voice in musical theatre, bringing a sound and energy that sets Sea Witch apart from anything currently on the London stage.
