About the venue
The Berlin TV Tower, known in German as the Fernsehturm, rises 368 metres above Alexanderplatz and remains the tallest structure in Germany. Completed in 1969 under the East German government, it was conceived as a bold statement of socialist ambition and technological progress, and it has since become one of the most recognisable landmarks on the Berlin skyline. The tower's distinctive steel sphere, positioned roughly two thirds of the way up the shaft, houses an observation deck and a revolving restaurant that completes a full rotation approximately every hour, offering panoramic views across the city in every direction.
Today visitors can ascend for a straightforward visit to the observation level or opt for the VIEW and VR Experience, which layers an augmented perspective onto the already remarkable vantage point above the rooftops of the German capital. From this height the sweep of the city, from the Brandenburg Gate to the Tempodrom and far beyond, becomes legible in a way that no street-level exploration can replicate. The Fernsehturm is both a piece of Cold War history and a working part of Berlin's daily life.
