考斯 指南
Cowes sits at the northern tip of Phillip Island, a compact seaside town that serves as the main hub for one of Victoria's most visited natural destinations. The Bass Strait stretches to the south, and on clear days the mainland skyline is visible across Western Port Bay to the north. Despite its modest size, Cowes draws visitors from across Australia and beyond, almost entirely because of what surrounds it: a remarkable concentration of wildlife, coastal scenery, and protected reserves that have made Phillip Island a fixture on the Victorian tourism circuit for well over a century.
The town itself has the unhurried character of a place that has never needed to oversell itself. The Esplanade runs along the foreshore, lined with cafes, fish and chip shops, and small guesthouses that fill quickly during summer and school holidays. Jetty Road is the commercial spine, short enough to walk end to end in minutes. Most visitors treat Cowes as a base rather than a destination in its own right, arriving in the afternoon and spending the following day moving between the island's reserves and attractions before the drive back to Melbourne along the South Gippsland Highway.
