About Top of the Rock

Top of the Rock is the observation deck at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan. The deck spans three levels on the 67th and 69th and 70th floors of the GE Building (now known as 30 Rock). The observation deck opened to the public in 2005 after a major renovation. From 850 feet above street level you can see the Empire State Building and Central Park and the Hudson River and downtown Manhattan. The 70th floor rooftop deck is open air with no glass barriers.

The Beam Experience

The Beam recreates the famous 1932 photograph titled Lunch atop a Skyscraper showing 11 ironworkers eating lunch on a steel beam 800 feet above the streets of New York during construction of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. You sit on a replica steel beam that rises and tilts against the backdrop of the NYC skyline for a photo opportunity. Height requirement: guests must be at least 52 inches (132 cm) tall to ride alone or at least 42 inches (107 cm) tall with an accompanying adult. Weight limit: 300 lbs (136 kg). Close-toed shoes or heel-engaging sandals required.

Skylift Experience

Skylift is a glass-bottomed platform that rises 3 stories above the 70th floor observation deck. The platform lifts you above the rooftop for views looking down through the glass floor and out across the city. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied. Weight limit: 300 lbs (136 kg).

Champagne Toast

The nearest subway station is 47-50 Streets-Rockefeller Center on the B/D/F/M lines. Take the escalator up to street level at the 50th Street exit. The entrance to Top of the Rock is a 1-minute walk. Alternatively take the N/R/W to 49th Street or the 1 train to 50th Street and walk 5 minutes east.
