About
Daryl Roth Theatre: Off-Broadway's Landmark Stage
The Daryl Roth Theatre is one of New York's premier venues for live entertainment. Located at 101 East 15th Street, New York, NY 10003, this off-broadway theater has a capacity of 499 and has been a fixture of the city's cultural landscape since 1998.
History of Daryl Roth Theatre
The Daryl Roth Theatre opened in 1998 inside the former Union Square Savings Bank building, a neoclassical landmark designed by Henry Bacon (the architect of the Lincoln Memorial) in 1905. The four-story structure at 101 East 15th Street features a Troy white granite facade with four towering fluted Corinthian columns, making it one of the most architecturally striking theater entrances in New York.
Producer Daryl Roth transformed the bank into a flexible performance space that has since hosted some of off-Broadway's most innovative productions. De La Guarda and its successor Fuerza Bruta had a combined 14-year run at the venue. Derek DelGaudio's In and Of Itself became a cult phenomenon here. Titanique, the hilarious Titanic-meets-Celine Dion parody, is one of the theater's most successful recent tenants.
Roth's producing career has yielded 13 Tony Award winners and 7 Pulitzer Prize-winning plays. The theater reflects that commitment to adventurous, boundary-pushing work.
