About The Sphere

The Sphere opened in September 2023 on the Las Vegas Strip behind The Venetian. The venue is 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide making it the largest spherical structure in the world. Inside the 16K LED screen wraps 160000 square feet around the audience. The sound system includes 167000 individually controlled speakers delivering spatial audio from every direction. Each seat includes haptic technology that vibrates and moves with the action on screen.

The Wizard of Oz Experience

The production follows the story of the original film. Dorothy and Toto are swept from Kansas by a tornado and land in Munchkinland. They follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City meeting the Scarecrow and Tin Man and Cowardly Lion along the way. The Sphere's technology creates each environment around the audience. Wind and fog effects simulate the tornado. Scent technology adds atmosphere to key scenes. The haptic seats respond to footsteps and impacts and flight sequences throughout the show.

Music and Sound

The soundtrack features songs from the original film including Over the Rainbow reorchestrated for an 80-piece orchestra. The Sphere's 167000 speaker system delivers directional audio so sounds move around the audience matching the action on screen. Dialogue and music come from specific points in the wraparound display creating a fully immersive soundscape.

Creative Team

The production is a collaboration between Sphere Entertainment and Warner Bros Discovery with visual effects by Magnopus. Producer Jane Rosenthal and VFX supervisor Ben Grossmann lead the creative team. The show combines original film footage with new digital environments created specifically for The Sphere's display technology.

Venue and Location

The Sphere is located at 255 Sands Avenue Las Vegas NV 89169 behind The Venetian Resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

Getting There

The Sphere is a 10-minute walk from The Venetian main entrance. Rideshare drop-off is available on Sands Avenue. Parking is available at The Venetian parking garage with validation available for show guests. The Las Vegas Monorail stops at Harrah's and The LINQ stations within walking distance.

Arrival Time

Arrive at least 30 minutes before your showtime. All guests pass through security screening before entry. Late arrivals may not be admitted once the show begins.

Age Recommendation

The show is recommended for ages 5 and up. The production includes loud sound effects and environmental effects including wind and fog and simulated lightning. Parents should use discretion for younger or sensitive children. All children must have a ticket.

Accessibility
