Few places in Australia carry quite the same atmospheric weight as Broome. Perched at the southern edge of the Kimberley on a peninsula between Roebuck Bay and the Indian Ocean, this remote town in the far north of Western Australia sits roughly 2,200 kilometres from Perth, a distance that gives some sense of just how far removed it is from the rhythms of the country's southern cities.
