Accessed only from the water, the Benagil Cave opens into a domed chamber with a circular oculus in the ceiling, through which light falls onto a crescent of sand below. A guided kayak tour departing from Benagil Beach is the most direct way to reach it, paddling through the low arch at the cave entrance and into the interior, where the scale of the chamber only becomes apparent once you are inside.
