Basílica de la Sagrada Família

Antoni Gaudí's Basílica de la Sagrada Família is one of the most extraordinary works of architecture in the world, a Roman Catholic basilica in the Eixample district of Barcelona that has been under continuous construction since 1882. Gaudí devoted the final decades of his life to the project, and his organic, nature-inspired vision transformed what began as a conventional Neo-Gothic commission into something entirely without precedent. The facades tell distinct stories: the Nativity facade, completed under Gaudí's supervision, is dense with sculptural detail, while the severe Passion facade was designed by Josep Maria Subirachs. The interior, flooded with coloured light through stained-glass windows by Joan Vila Grau, feels less like a building than a stone forest, its branching columns rising to vaulted ceilings of extraordinary complexity.

Construction continues today, funded entirely by visitor admissions and private donations, with several towers still to be completed. Visitors can enter the basilica with fast-track tickets, with an audio guide option available to explore the symbolism embedded in every surface at their own pace.
