Step into the creative world of Khmer pottery and experience firsthand the unique techniques that define Cambodian ceramics. This immersive pottery class invites you to learn from local experts who have perfected these artistic traditions over generations.

Hands-on Pottery Making

Upon arrival, receive a warm welcome from your instructor and staff, who will introduce you to the tools and materials used in Cambodian pottery. You'll be seated at your own potter's wheel, where you can feel the smooth clay and learn how artisans transform natural materials into beautiful works of art.

Your instructor will demonstrate each phase of creating a pottery bowl, beginning with centering the clay on the wheel, gently shaping it into a vessel, and finally smoothing the surface. Every participant gets personal attention and guidance throughout the process, making this activity suitable for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Guided Design and Carving

After shaping your bowls, you'll explore traditional carving techniques. Use carving tools to create your own patterns and designs, guided by your teacher. This segment offers insight into both the discipline and creativity involved in Khmer craftsmanship.

Take Home Your Artwork

During the session, you will create up to five pottery bowls. One of your own pieces will be selected, kiln fired overnight, and ready for you to collect the following evening after 6 pm. To commemorate your new skills, receive a Cambodian Potter Diploma from the school.

If you wish to keep more pottery pieces or have them shipped, your instructor can assist for an extra fee. Please note, shipping costs are not included.
