ParisWhat's OnParis 2026Things to do in Paris

The first week of June is Paris at its best, and this week the city is buzzing. Roland-Garros reaches its climax with both finals at the weekend, the We Love Green festival lands in the Bois de Vincennes, the headline exhibitions are in full swing, and on Sunday many of the great museums throw open their doors for free. Here is your guide to what is genuinely on in Paris for the week of 1 to 7 June 2026: the big events, the icons worth booking, and how to make the most of it, with live prices from our catalogue. Prices are in euros and correct at the time of writing.

Paris this week in 30 seconds. The French Open finals close out the week at Roland-Garros, with the women's final on Saturday 6 June and the men's final on Sunday 7 June. We Love Green brings three days of music to the Bois de Vincennes from Friday to Sunday, the blockbuster Renoir show is on at the Musee d'Orsay, and Sunday 7 June is the first Sunday of the month, when many national museums are free (book a slot in advance). Around it all, the Eiffel Tower, the Seine and the great collections are open and waiting.

The big events this week

The headline is sport. Roland-Garros, the French Open, is in its final, thrilling days at the Stade Roland-Garros in the 16th arrondissement, with the women's singles final on Saturday 6 June and the men's singles final on Sunday 7 June, both on the famous red clay of Court Philippe-Chatrier. Tickets for the finals are scarce and pricey, but grounds passes and the atmosphere around the stadium make it a genuine occasion even from outside.

Music takes over the weekend too. We Love Green, the city's flagship eco-conscious festival, returns to the Plaine de la Belle Etoile in the Bois de Vincennes from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 June for its 15th edition, an easy hop on Metro Line 1 to Chateau de Vincennes. And for one night only, the Fondation Louis Vuitton joins the Nuit Blanche on Saturday 6 June with free late-night access from 8pm to midnight, tied to its Calder retrospective. Food lovers have something to celebrate as well: the nationwide Tous au Restaurant promotion runs from Monday 1 to Sunday 14 June, with a buy-one-menu, get-one-free offer at hundreds of restaurants across the city.

The icons, worth booking ahead

A Bateaux Mouches sightseeing cruise on the Seine in Paris

No first visit is complete without the classics, and June is a lovely time for them. A guided tour of the Eiffel Tower with reserved access to the summit takes the queueing out of the day from €32, and the most romantic way to see the city is a Bateaux Mouches cruise along the Seine from €20, gliding past Notre-Dame and the bridges. After dark, an illuminated evening cruise from €17 catches the city in lights.

For the big views and the history, climb to the rooftop of the Arc de Triomphe from €17 for one of the best panoramas in Paris, descend into the eerie Catacombs from €56, or stand under the stained glass of Sainte-Chapelle from €26. The neoclassical Pantheon, resting place of Voltaire and Marie Curie, is from €14, and the gilded Palais Garnier opera house is from €29.

Eat and wander like a Parisian

Half the joy of Paris is simply being in it, and early June, before the high-summer crowds arrive, is the perfect time to wander. This week is a good one for eating out, too: the nationwide Tous au Restaurant promotion runs from 1 to 14 June with a buy-one-menu, get-one-free offer at hundreds of restaurants, so a memorable dinner costs less than usual; book a table through the scheme and dine as a pair to make the most of it. Beyond the deals, let the neighbourhoods lead you. The Marais is all hidden courtyards, falafel queues and design boutiques; Montmartre keeps its village feel above the rooftops; the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain are made for a slow coffee and a longer lunch; and the Canal Saint-Martin is where young Paris picnics by the water on a warm evening. If you would rather have a guide, a food tour through the markets, fromageries and bakeries is one of the tastiest ways to understand the city, and we have rounded up the best in our guide to Paris food tours.

World-class art and exhibitions

Paris is the art capital of the world and the line-up this week proves it. The Louvre needs no introduction, from €42, while the Musee d'Orsay, from €14, pairs the world's greatest collection of Impressionists with its blockbuster of the season, Renoir and Love. Just along the river, the Orangerie wraps you in Monet's Water Lilies from €15. There is far more on this week, including the Calder show at the Fondation Louis Vuitton and the great cabarets, so we have rounded it all up in our Paris art and exhibitions guide.

Beyond the city

If you have a day to spare, the region rewards it. The Palace of Versailles, with its Hall of Mirrors and endless gardens, is a half-hour train ride and from €15. For something gentler, a trip to Giverny from €63 takes you to Monet's house and the water-lily pond that inspired the paintings you will have just seen at the Orangerie. Early June, with the gardens in full bloom, is the perfect time for both.

Planning a first visit

If this is your first time in Paris, it can feel like there is far too much to see, so a little planning goes a long way. Our guide to the must-see Paris attractions for first-time visitors covers the essentials without the overwhelm, and our perfect three-day Paris itinerary shows how to string them together at a humane pace. Both work especially well in a week like this one, when the weather is kind and the city has not yet filled with summer visitors. And do not feel you have to see everything: half a day given over to a single great museum, or an afternoon spent doing nothing but drifting between cafes and bridges, is its own kind of perfect Paris. The city rewards the people who slow down for it.

Know before you go

A few practical notes for the week. Monday is a closure day for several major museums, including the Musee d'Orsay, so plan culture for Tuesday to Sunday. With Roland-Garros and We Love Green drawing crowds, the city will be busy, so book the things you care about before you travel. If you are hoping to take advantage of the free museums on Sunday 7 June, note that several now require you to reserve a free timed slot online in advance, so it pays to plan ahead rather than turn up at the door. And leave room to simply wander: a Paris evening along the Seine, with the Eiffel Tower sparkling on the hour, is still free and still unbeatable.
